Clown September?!
We wrote another novel, bois
It’s funny, one of the things I receive a lot of praise for are my unique titles (“The Great and Terrible Thing That Will Get Us All in the End”, “The All-Encompassing People-Eating Machine”, etc), but when it comes to my novels, the titles always end up coming from other people. The Razor Darkness of a Starless Night was suggested by my father when we were discussing an early draft of the book, and recently one of my friends mentioned a possible title for my cosmic horror clown slasher that far exceeded the one I came up with. Thus, let me properly introduce you to my next book, Clown September.
What’s it about?
All her life, Emma has dreamt of a white room with white walls, somewhere of solitude, a place where she can live out the rest of her days in stories and long lost memories.
But she knows no such place exists, and instead she resides in bland reality, going to school in the morning and coming home at night, subsisting on brief, meaningless conversations with friends, reading late into the night until the words burn her eyes, just waiting for it all to be over.
All his life, Ruffles the clown has felt estranged from the world, like a loser, an outsider, but no longer; now, he dreams of a vast and endless black stairwell, one which leads him closer and closer to his purpose, to a sickened smile of bladed teeth, to knives and machetes and chainsaws. This is his time.
The two meet one day at the circus, and soon everything is in chaos. Gone is the order of Emma’s world. Gone is the logic in which she believed. Gone is that dream of solace and solitude.
Now, she must find a way to cope with the madness of existence, to fix things, all while Ruffles seeks to further unravel her life, one kill at a time.
The story blends my love of cosmic horror and bleak philosophies with my appreciation for all things clowns, from Terrifier to It. If you’ve liked any of my prior work, I guarantee that you will love this book.
I’ve already published the first few chapters serially here on Substack (under the old title of When the Clowns Come Calling), and, fear not, there will soon be more to come. I also hope to publish the full book at some point, ideally with a traditional publisher so I can reach a larger audience.
Another few chapters drop on the 20th, so stay tuned!

Sounds interesting. Even though I hate clowns, I'll definitely check it out
